Chainlink Fence Installation in Gachie, Lower Kabete

Chainlink fence installation Gachie was completed by Orbixian Technologies for this property in Lower Kabete using a robust combination of galvanized chainlink mesh, precast concrete poles, HTS tension wire and barbed-wire topping.

The objective was to construct a practical perimeter fence that provides dependable boundary protection, good visibility and long-term outdoor performance while remaining cost-effective for a sizeable property perimeter.

Instead of relying only on chainlink mesh, the installation combines structural posts, tension support and a reinforced security topping to create a much stronger complete fencing system.

Why the 3-Metre Pole Spacing Matters

For this project, the precast concrete poles were positioned approximately 3 metres apart.

Correct pole spacing is important because chainlink fencing depends on tension. Excessive spacing can allow the mesh to sag or move under pressure, particularly over long perimeter runs.

The 3-metre arrangement provides regular support points for the mesh and HTS wire while allowing the fence line to maintain a clean, consistent appearance.

For actual projects, pole spacing can still be adjusted according to terrain, corners, gate positions, soil conditions and the required level of reinforcement.

10ft Precast Concrete Fence Posts

The project uses 10 ft precast concrete poles along the perimeter.

Concrete poles are well suited to chainlink fencing where property owners require a strong, low-maintenance structural support system. They are not vulnerable to termite attack and do not require the same corrosion protection associated with exposed mild-steel posts.

The angled tops also provide a practical mounting position for the additional barbed-wire security strands.

7ft G14 Chainlink Mesh – 50 × 50mm

The main barrier consists of 7 ft high galvanized G14 chainlink mesh with 50 × 50mm mesh openings.

This provides an effective balance between perimeter visibility, physical separation and project cost. It is suitable for residential plots, institutions, farms, commercial compounds and other properties where a long continuous boundary needs to be secured.

The open mesh structure also allows occupants to maintain visibility through the perimeter instead of creating the blind areas associated with solid boundary walls.

HTS 2.5mm Tension Support

The fence incorporates 2.5mm HTS wire as part of the tensioning structure.

HTS wire helps support the chainlink mesh across each span and keeps the fence line properly tensioned between posts. Correct tension is especially important on longer installations where unsupported mesh can gradually sag.

The effectiveness of a chainlink fence therefore depends not only on the mesh gauge but also on the quality of the posts, strainers, tensioning and fixing method.

Barbed-Wire Security Topping

Barbed wire was installed above the 7ft chainlink fence to provide an additional deterrent at the upper perimeter.

This creates two separate security layers:

7ft chainlink mesh forms the main physical boundary, while barbed-wire topping increases resistance to climbing over the fence.

Why Chainlink Was Suitable for This Property

This installation demonstrates why chainlink remains one of the most practical fencing systems for long residential and land boundaries around Nairobi and Kiambu.

It provides good perimeter visibility, relatively low maintenance requirements, adaptability to natural terrain and the ability to add security toppings without replacing the entire fence.

When properly installed with strong posts and correctly tensioned wire, chainlink fencing can provide dependable service for many years.
